The North Wind Tramontana blows over and around our homes, the nearby ridges, valleys and our pastures.
Our horses' coats have changed; are now fluffy warm.
The nights are bone-chillingly cold. The stars are crystal clear - seem close enough to touch and the moon casts light and long shadows into the night.
During the day, bright sunshine under a brilliant blue sky. Not a cloud, not a veil - that is the current quality of this season coupled with Tramontana.
Our horses are in their surrounding winter paddocks and greet us joyfully when they receive their portion of concentrated feed and hay.
The nights are gradually getting shorter again. The winter solstice is over and we are in for the Christmas holidays, and a new year.
For us, this is a time of pause, a time of refocusing and looking back, and of great gratitude and connection!
